in order to transform our society, city and neighborhoods

“The picture that begins to emerge from this and other analyses of human genetic variation is that variation tends to be geographically structured, such that most individuals from the same geographic region will be more similar to one another than to individuals from a distant region.[57]”

in order to transform our society, city and neighborhoods

into places that cultivate potential

instead of wasting and destroying precious resources

both natural and human

we must begin with radical change inside ourselves

a radical shift in identity

that might bring us to re-imagine:

ourselves and each other

not consumers but producers

guided by conscience , not ego

seeing commonality instead of difference

thinking for the long term (and each other)

instead of “what I can get for me right now”

redefining wealth as health

and rediscovering the art of balance

a way to tread lightly upon the earth

in awe and humility and thanks

for this human life, so interconnected

and, I believe, we each must personally experience:

compassion for self, expanding to a feeling for others

also innumerable setbacks – to teach patience and persistence

more than a generational struggle (which it is )

passed down from ancestors through culture and history

this struggle, this rebellion, this people’s movement

transcends the individual interests of any group or people

I say it is to secure rights and dignity, to uplift and overcome

To draw together our human family

As the prophets said “to be as one”

I will make change – I will see it done

With my thoughts and breath

With words and deeds

Effort focused

Meet these needs

This great deed remains undone

Time and space converge

The battle’s won

It can be done

Shall be done

A human family

We can live as one
